Celebration of the 1st year workshop for NEMO and its twin projects
From 18 till 21 November 2025 the workshop for the conclusion of the 1st year of the European Defence Fund’s technological challenge on human language technologies (HLT) was hosted at the Brno University of Technology . The EDF-funded project ARCHER, led by Airbus Defence, is the organiser of the HLT technological challenge; while other 3 EDF consortia are partecipating as challengers and are building their speech recognition, natural language processing and optical character recognition demonstrators. These 3 participant consortia are:
- NEMO (“laNguagE Modules develOpment”, coordinated by SINTEF and scientifically coordinated by Zanasi & Partners),
- ATLAS (“AI-based Natural Language Processing of Low-Quality and Multilingual Data in Defence Applications with User Adaptation”, coordinated by Aalborg University), and
- LINGUARISE-DC (“Language Innovations: Nimble, Guided, User-friendly, Agile and Robust Solutions Eliminating Defence Challenges”, coordinated by Satways).
This 2-day meeting collected feedback on the 1st year of the technological challenge and put in place the foundations for the next years activities. This worskhop was also the perfect occasion for the 4 consortia to meet in person and to strenghten the EU Defence capabilities in human language technologies.
